How Comments Can Lead to Real Traffic?

So, we’ve established that great content is rule number one. Without it, all traffic to your blog is pretty much a waste.

Beyond that, the secret to blog comments that ultimately lead to traffic establish…

…relationships.

Shocking, I know.

Think about it. It’s no secret that many of the people who comment on blogs are also bloggers. They simply have more motivation to take the time to comment.

So when you meaningfully participate in the community aspect of a blog, you’re creating meaningful relationships with people who can send you significant traffic—bloggers and other active social media users.

Getting links, re-tweets, social media votes and bookmarks… this is the way that content spreads. This is the way you get real traffic that actually matters.

This doesn’t entail kissing up to the blog owner (most of us hate strategic-sounding praise). What it means is creating a network that provides the payoff for all the effort you’ve put into your content.

It takes time, but at least it actually works.

How to Find Blogs to Comment on? - The Traffic Sniping Tactic!

The two biggest blog search engines are Google Blog Search and Technorati. Just to give you a sense of scale, Technorati tracks upwards of 1.5 million blog posts everyday, and indexes tens of millions blogs.

Technorati

There are four options when you search for a term on Technorati, you can search through blogs, posts, photos and videos. In reality the only ones that concern us are blogs and posts.

Blogs - Ultimately we are hoping to find blogs related to the keywords we enter, that way we have a pretty good chance of being able to make repeated comments on the blog.

Posts – If we can’t find blogs related to our niche then we will have to resort to single posts that are related. This isn’t really a problem, it just means there is probably no point of book marking or returning to the blog for future posts.

Google Blog Search

Google blog search works in exactly the same way as the regular Google search except the results only contain blogs. You can use all the search operators such as “” to get more exact results and so on.
Google blog search only shows blog posts, so you may go through a lot of posts before you find a really good blog to proactively comment on.

Advanced Search Operators

Google allows you to use special ‘operators’ to further define your search. You may have come across some of these such as the “site:blogcommentblueprint.com” which shows all indexed pages of blogcommentblueprint.com
If you are looking for blogs to comment on then you could use a query like this:
This would give you a selection of blogs or posts using the keyword ‘money’ in the title and have a comment section for you to comment on.

A lot of people have asked why I haven’t compiled a list of dofollow blogs, the main reason is that they go out of date very quickly, often people enable dofollow just to get on the list then remove it and other things like that. Hence why I suggest you find the blogs yourself and create your own high quality list.

Blog Traffic

If your sole aim by blog commenting is to gain traffic there is no use commenting on a blog which gets one or two visitors a day, because the only people who are gonna visit your blog are the blogger and his grandma.

If I was going to comment on a blog for traffic I would make sure it had no less than 100 visitors a day, that way your comment is getting exposed to a potential 100 people. The quickest way to determine a blog’s traffic is by looking at the blogs feed count and/or its alexa ranking, either are a decent quick method of traffic evaluation.

If the blog does not have a chicklet showing the feedcount then there is an alternative method of finding out. If you visit the website feedcompare.com it should give you the data, although sometimes it doesn’t work.
There are many toolbars and add-ons for your browser which tell you a sites alexa rank, if like me you use the Chrome browser which doesn’t allow toolbars then you can use the http://popuri.us/ service to quickly check a sites Alexa, Technorati, Pagerank and other metrics you can use to assess a website.

Quality of comment

When blog commenting for traffic your comment is like a mini advertisement for yourself, that being said don't make it look like you are advertising. The simplest way to get people to click on your link is to leave unique, quality comments. A good comment should leave the reader wanting to know more about who you are and what you know, which leads to clicks.

In terms of length I would say never go for less than three sentences, this isn’t written in stone, but I think it serves as a good guide. Shorter comments can often be skipped past unknowingly by people, whereas a long one is bound to catch someone’s attention.

Anchor Text

Although the unwritten rules of commenting say you should only use your name in the 'name:' field it should be known that an interesting name leads to higher click through rates (CTR). Here are some examples:

Name: Birthday Cards - Low CTR
Name: Danny Cooper - Average CTR
Name: Free Cash! - High CTR

Although the above examples are basic, I think you get the idea.

Number of other commentators

The number of commentators can play a huge part in the success of your comment, for example if there are 300 comments before yours it's very unlikely that yours will be seen. On the flip side, this can work both ways, if you are the first commentator and there are 300 below yours there may be a big discussion and you will reap the benefits by being the first.

MyBlogLog is a blog directory that can help you increase the reach of your website and blog. This blog community powered by Yahoo is a great place to gain backlinks, engage readers, and network with other bloggers.

There are a lot of people generating a ton of traffic with MyBlogLog. In fact, I was shocked at how much traffic I have generated in a short amount of time just from this one website alone.

These are people who buy my products, read my articles, post comments and spend some time at my blog.

With a lot of other social community services, while you can easily generate a ton of traffic in just a few hours, for the most part the traffic remains for only a few minutes before surfing onto the next blog.

That kind of traffic doesn’t yield feasible results.

When I first started using MyBlogLog (a service of Yahoo), I joined with the simple intention of just checking it out, I really wasn’t expecting any miracle traffic nor was I planning on becoming a daily active user.

When I started exploring the community however, I was surprised at how user‐friendly their interface is and how cleverly designed the entire system is.

In fact, MyBlogLog has created the program to literally push users to your blog and help you generate traffic.

They motivate their community members to browse the websites of one another and unlike StumbleUpon, a lot of the visitors to your blog aren’t there just to “exchange” traffic with you, they are truly interested in what you have to offer.

For instance, when I placed my very first “paid” product on my blog, I received 6 sales the very first day, and this is with only having a community of about 60 users at the time!

I couldn’t believe it, I had never sold a darn thing with Squidoo, and had never generated nowhere near this much traffic with any of the other communities so heavily promoted in the marketing industry.

While six sales... it was a clear indicator that MyBlogLog can do more than just send a handful of visitors to my blog or website.

I have created a step‐by‐step blueprint that will help you generate traffic and make sales using MyBlogLog, an extremely important and useful tool for getting your web‐blog off the ground at no cost.
